not only did the military"lose" sell or otherwise distribute 190,000 sidearms in iraq, but country was awash with weapons brought in from the last big freeforall chance to kill and profit in religious manners:

Much of the equipment provided to Iraqi troops, including the AK-47s, originates from countries in the former Soviet bloc. In a report last year, Amnesty International said that in 2004 and 2005 more than 350,000 AK-47 rifles and similar weapons were taken out of Bosnia and Serbia, for use in Iraq, by private contractors working for the Pentagon and with the approval of NATO and European security forces in Bosnia.

The Pentagon has lost track of about 190,000 AK-47 assault rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, according to a new government report, raising fears that some of those weapons have fallen into the hands of insurgents fighting U.S. forces in Iraq.

back in 2003, bremmer was all for "the citizens" to be packin:

The availability of weapons to ordinary Iraqis, not just militias, is also a concern. In May, Paul Bremer, the top coalition official here, decided to allow Iraqis to keep AK-47s, with the stipulation that they confine them to their home. But that provision has proven almost impossible to enforce, and gun-toting toughs are now a regular feature on the streets of most of Iraq's cities.
"In my opinion, we'd be a lot better off if we didn't let people keep AK-47s in their homes,'' says Gen. Kadhem Abdul Khalik, the chief of police for Al-Risafa district, which encompasses about half of Baghdad. "Under the old regime, there were a lot fewer guns in private hands, and that made our job easier and safer."

One coalition official says that up to 50 major weapons sites across Iraq with bombs, ammunition, and rifles in them are improperly secured and have probably served as a source for the home-made bombs - improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in military parlance - that have become the single biggest security threat to the coalition.

Thirty-three people were killed today on the campus of Virginia Tech in what appears to be the deadliest shooting rampage in American history, according to federal law-enforcement officials. Many of the victims were students shot in a dorm and a classroom building.

and the washington sniper:

One coincidence not reported in the major media is that Moose and John Muhammad/Williams both served in the Oregon National guard at the same time for approximately a year. However their reporting stations were about a mile apart and there is no known indication that the two ever met. http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0211/S00116.htm

no connection...just floods of weapons.

dissident decider decipher

slush sez he's a dirty word: a dissident!

As he sat down with opposition leaders from authoritarian societies around the world, he gave voice to his exasperation. "You're not the only dissident," Bush told Saad Eddin Ibrahim, a leader in the resistance to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. "I too am a dissident in Washington. Bureaucracy in the United States does not help change. It seems that Mubarak succeeded in brainwashing them."

dissident decider?

rove: i'm a myth, i'm grendel, i don't know who i am

rove isn't sure what or who he is:

On the various congressional investigations, Rove told Wallace: "They'll keep after me. Let's face it. I mean, I'm a myth, and they're -- you know, I'm Beowulf. You know, I'm Grendel. I don't know who I am. But they're after me."

wundered why bush was so eloquent?

tillman hearings uncovering patterns of lies

congressional investigations of pat tillman and jessica lynch reveal a pattern of disinformation(propaganda) leading up to the president's slimy desk:

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/foreigndesk/detail?blogid=16&entry_id=15724

Pvt. Jessica Lynch testifies that after her April 23, 2003, capture in Iraq, the Pentagon told "elaborate lies" and created "the story of the little girl Rambo from hills of West Virginia who went down fighting. Very calmly, composed, Lynch emphasizes that she is "not political." However, she says, "I'm still confused why they chose to lie and make me a legend when those in my unit who died around me were truly legendary."

No mention yet of Gen. John Abizaid, the former Central Command chief, who the Tillman family say may have played a key role in coordinating a coverup with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and with the White House.

gee i wonder if bush's "tinkertoy" boy genius had anything to do with this...dooh! he's unavailable, shooting attorney-friends in tejas, loaded with impunity!
Someone might tell Karl Rover that whales aren't fish:

Even when he returns to Texas, Rove said, he expects to be under attack for his role in advising Bush. "I realize that some of the Democrats are Captain Ahab and I'm the great white whale," he said. "I noticed the other day some Democratic staffers were quoted calling me the big fish. Well, I'm Moby-Dick and they're after me."

They happen to be mammals, who abandoned land (DC) for the safety of the sea of money( TEJAS). Kind of like Halliburton, who has likewise decided "to spend more time with their family," moving operations from Houston to Dubai:

Halliburton Co., currently the largest military contractor in Iraq with billions of dollars in Pentagon contracts, announced Sunday that it was planning to move its CEO and corporate headquarters from Houston to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. The move could eventually save the firm a fortune in U.S. taxes, but it is raising serious questions about its priorities and prompting at least one possible congressional hearing. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/story?id=2943017

Karl "Tinkertoy" Rove and "Scuzzer" Libby are both good guise deep down; ask David Brooks or Rich Lowry. They know when they fall, their spidernets will save them.

Let's hope when Karl spends more time with his family, it is when they visit him in jail. Of course, Jeff Gannon will have no problem lobbying for his time in the shower stall there!

Below the belt? I don't think so: Guckert made more than 200 appearances at the White House during his two-year tenure with the fledging conservative websites GOPUSA and Talon News, attending 155 of 196 White House press briefings. He had little to no previous journalism experience, previously worked as a male escort, and was refused a congressional press pass.

more from the rawstory: Guckert made more than two dozen excursions to the White House when there were no scheduled briefings. On many of these days, the Press Office held press gaggles aboard Air Force One—which raises questions about what Guckert was doing at the White House. On other days, the president held photo opportunities.

Ok, back to Karl calling himself Moby Dick.

Snigger snigger....according to Hawthorne's "the purloined letter" you put the object in plain sight if you wish to hide it. Like a closeted wizard of ahs!

whispering of washington dc escort services, remember the recent madam's lengthy list of politicians who used her journalists i mean harlots: Politics – The 46 lbs of phone records, stored meticulously over the DC Madam's 13-year escort service, is a scandal in waiting that looms large over the nation's capital. And if the current court-ordered injunction is lifted, allowing Deborah Jeane Palfrey access to her files, she vows to send every last name and phone number to any journalist wanting them.

Is rove moby dick because he is on the madam's log of record? funny how our loose lips sink ships.

data minder's privates

someone with nothing to hide has no hide: peeled, skinned, ready to eat. don't be an exhibitionist! privacy doesn't mean showing one's privates.our social security numbers, our medical history, our addresses emails friends and associates, our shopping habits...this is not about whether you are al qaeda or earth first. it is about snooping on soccer moms and dads.

fake nuggets in the data mining stream

since we're dealing with the wildwest "bring 'em on" mentality, let's remember that people with mining claims in the olden days would "front" on the actual value of their claim...show a few nuggets they said came from the stream, which was for sale for the bargain price of....how easy would it be for the nsa or similar spook agency to PLANT data from remote servers into the hardware of persons they wanted to spy on? how many mistakes on the "no fly list" occur due to the genius of these data interpolations based on FAULTY intel?the laws already allow warrantless searches....the idea is, you apply after the fact, and that is what has been ignored.

data mine collapse, my ass! drill me a hole!

unavoidable is the conclusion that there is no proper oversight in any branch of government for the abuses we are experiencing. the office of prez and vice scuz has grown far too influential, as they now have appointed some huge majority of the federal judges based on political litmus tests, stocked the supreme court with hacks----they wanted harriet meyers! filled FEMA post with brown, the horse-show guy etc etc, and worst of all, collude with big money democrats to ensure nothing ever evolves in our attempts at democracy.what is needed is a people's fourth wheel of government, short of total revolution. let's take their omnipotent computer technology and make it an arbiter for basic constitutional issues; break a law, such as warrantless fisa searches? black and white, the exec. is guilty, hand down the penalty. no weak handwringing from wishywashy democrats. lie to begin an unjust war? boom, big computer finds the executive office guilty and removes the codes they hold to launch nuclear weapons against...iran, for example.claim executive privelege in regards to tillman, pardon/commute a treasonous convicted felon protecting his own boss, i.e. libby-----illegal, hello. take away that privilege on basic constitutional grounds.if the powers that be insist on the deductive ability of the computers that they've programed,( like diebold's voting machines,) then turn them loose on the flagrant lawbreakers holding office, awarding fraudulent contracts, covering up endless scandals...can't hide that from big computer! big computer won't care about party affiliation or non-affiliation.short of total revolution, or a general strike, what other options does the average american have? take away chain-bushey's costco card.
