Nyctalopia

comes to us from the Latin word nyctalops, which means "suffering from night blindness." It is ultimately derived from the Greek word nyktalops, which was formed by combining the word for "night" ("nyx") with the words for "blind" and "eye" ("alaos" and "ōps," respectively). English speakers have been using "nyctalopia" to refer to reduced vision in faint light or at night since the 17th century. We added the somewhat more pedestrian "night blindness" to the lexicon in the 18th century.

Nyctitropism

is a sleep-like movement in plants where parts of the plant assume different positions at night than during the day. It's characterized by a response to a stimulus that comes from one direction. The word comes from the International Scientific Vocabulary words nyct- and -tropism.

"Illusionism is an active program within eliminative materialism to explain phenomenal consciousness as an illusion.  "

"proponents argue that once we can explain consciousness as an illusion without the need for a realist view of consciousness, we can construct a debunking argument against realist views of consciousness.

This line of argument draws from other debunking arguments like the evolutionary debunking argument in the field of metaethics.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliminative_materialism#Illusionism

Such arguments note that morality is explained by evolution without positing moral realism, so there is a sufficient basis to debunk moral realism."

"The phlogiston theory, a superseded scientific theory, postulated the existence of a fire-like element dubbed phlogiston (/flɒˈdʒɪstən, floʊ-, -ɒn/)

contained within combustible bodies and released during combustion.

The name comes from the Ancient Greek φλογιστόν phlogistón (burning up), from φλόξ phlóx (flame).

The idea of a phlogistic substance was first proposed in 1667 by Johann Joachim Becher and later put together more formally in 1703 by Georg Ernst Stahl. Phlogiston theory attempted to explain chemical processes such as combustion and rusting, now collectively known as oxidation"

"The dried bark of cascara was used as a laxative in folk medicine by the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest, and later worldwide in conventional medicines until 2002"

"Cascara is native from northern California to British Columbia and east to the Rocky Mountains in Montana.

It is often found along streamsides in the mixed deciduous-coniferous forests of valleys, and in moist montane forests.

Cascara is common in the understory of bigleaf maple forest, alongside red osier dogwood and red alder."

Dorcas (Greek: Δορκάς, romanized: Dorkás), or Tabitha (Imperial Aramaic: טביתא/ܛܒܝܬܐ, romanized: Ṭaḇīṯā, lit. '(female) gazelle'), was an early disciple of Jesus mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles[1][2] (Acts 9:36–43, see discussion here).

She lived in the port city of Joppa, today absorbed by Tel Aviv. Acts describes her as being known for her "good works and acts of mercy", sewing clothes for the poor.

When she died, the widows of her community mourned her and sent urgently for Peter (Acts 9:38), who was in nearby Lydda. As evidence of her charity, they showed him some of the clothes she had sewn, and according to the biblical account he raised her from the dead.

The surname Dorcas is an Irish name that was adopted from Ó Dorchaidhe, which means "descendant of Dorchadh". The personal name Dorchadh is based on the word dorcha, which means "dark".
